You might be wondering:
Why is Kentucky’s first luxury, one-stop concierge company—offering everything from private jets and VIP access to the Kentucky Derby, to exclusive bourbon experiences and fine dining—run by a Colombian and an Argentinian known as The Bluegrass Ladies?
And more importantly:
Why are they betting on Kentucky?
The Vision
Let’s start by answering: What does it mean to be the first luxury, one-stop concierge company in Kentucky—and why does Kentucky need one?
Bluegrass Concierge offers services that encompass all aspects of our clients’ travel experience in Kentucky, including access to prominent events such as the Kentucky Derby, the Kentucky Oaks, and next year's Valhalla PGA Tournament. Opportunities for private VIP and up-close bourbon experiences, including but not limited to: meet the distiller/taster, private curated tasting, innovation tours and tasting, mixology, and unique one-of-a-kind experiences. Our company also provides personalized transportation from private jets to chauffeured limousines and luxury SUVs. Bluegrass Concierge also offers health & wellness services, fine dining, couture shopping, and multilingual interpreting services to guarantee a cohesive service during our clients’ stay in Kentucky.
In essence, we are your insider pass to Kentucky's most exclusive and unforgettable moments.
How It All Began
As long-time residents of Kentucky, Valeria and Sandra spent years entertaining family and friends. Over time, they noticed one key issue: there was no single company that could seamlessly coordinate the full Kentucky experience. Instead, visitors had to make multiple bookings—across different platforms, often with inconsistent service.
After several years of visiting the bourbon distilleries, Kentucky’s most precious jewels, it became clear that, for the most part, the options available were repetitive, with limited options to tailor experiences. Considering that this is one of the main attractions for visitors of our state, this ignited a curiosity to know if there were other options available and how to have access to those. You will hear people talking about some of those experiences, mostly done for corporations. That’s when they realized there were unicorns, but they did exist, and they were determined to find them.
After years of visiting distilleries—Kentucky’s most prized jewels—they noticed most public experiences were repetitive and lacked customization. That curiosity sparked a mission:
What else is out there? And how can we access it?
They started to hear whispers of exclusive, invite-only bourbon experiences—ones typically reserved for corporations. They were rare, almost mythical. But they did exist. And the Bluegrass Ladies were determined to find them.
The task was not easy, but thanks to determination and with the help of family and friends who connected them with the distilleries, they began conversations with distilleries across the state. Their goal?
To elevate the bourbon experience—and Kentucky tourism as a whole.
Unsure of how their ideas were going to be received, and thinking it was going to be hard to change people’s minds. They proposed something new:
A more personal, immersive, and luxury-driven way to experience the heart of bourbon country. Opportunities to meet the people behind the labels, explore small-batch distilleries, enjoy private tastings, and uncover the untold stories of Kentucky spirits.
Although it is true that these experiences do not come at a price accessible to everyone, they believe that for the true bourbon enthusiast, it is like hitting the Powerball or Mega Millions. It is something that you know is not available to everyone, but that will be the highlight of your trip while keeping you curious about what else is available.
Creating the Kentucky You’ve Never Seen
They started thinking about things that they enjoyed as locals, but also about things they enjoy while traveling to other places. What are the things that someone would pay extra to have access to? Without a doubt, it all came down to having access to behind-the-scenes and unpublished encounters at some of the most iconic places in the state—Churchill Downs, the Kentucky Derby Museum, Keeneland, and horse farms, among others.
Sure enough, they found that there are options available such as access to some of the more lavish areas in Churchill Downs, meet and greet the jockeys, bourbon tastings with experts on the distillery grounds, workshops to make your own derby hat, and seeing up close early workouts of the Kentucky Derby and Oaks contenders—without a doubt, one of our favorite experiences if you are up for an early morning.
One thing has led to another: they started with bourbon, then iconic places in the city, collaborating with local artists and craftsmanship experts, creating new experiences for women visiting, diving into the culinary scene, bourbon tastings and experts, learning about the city’s hospitality industry. Finally, a deep understanding of all the events and experiences available during Derby week—from brunches to places to see the races, exclusive areas in Churchill Downs, after-parties, and, of course, hat etiquette.
They also identified a major gap: language access.
For international visitors—or anyone who doesn't speak English—Kentucky can feel inaccessible. With few multilingual tours or translated signage, it's no surprise that more than 90% of visitors are from the U.S.
Bluegrass Concierge changes that. Through interpreting services and multilingual support, we open Kentucky up to the world.
Meet the Founders
You must be wondering who these girls are and why they are doing this. We are proud Louisvillians who have called this vibrant city home for over 15 years. We relocated to Louisville and quickly embraced the city as our own. We are friends who not only share a background in finance and banking, but most importantly a deep and genuine love for Kentucky.
Different circumstances brought them to Kentucky.
Valeria
Valeria has been globetrotting alongside her husband's career in the bourbon industry. It was only a matter of time before their journey led them to Kentucky, and they've called it home for over 15 years now.
As the proud owner of Bluegrass Concierge, Valeria draws inspiration from her roots in Argentina, where family ranches and the traditions of hearty Asado gatherings shaped her love for hospitality. The scent of charcoal grills and the warmth of family reunions all find a place in her heart, reflecting in the unparalleled service she offers.
Valeria's journey traverses four countries—Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, and the United States—each leaving an indelible mark on her. From the seamless fusion of ancient traditions and contemporary lifestyles in Mexico, to the vibrant streets of São Paulo or the carnival in Rio and Salvador, as well as the relaxing days in sandy yet chic Miami, every stop has added layers to her character and, in turn, to the unique perspective that Bluegrass Concierge brings to its clients.
Valeria cherishes the excitement of exploring new destinations, a passion that ignited during her early years. Her journey began with a transformative two-month stay in London as a teenager, a pivotal experience that fueled her love for travel and cultural exploration. Her financial background, coupled with her Marie Kondo certification, plays a significant role in shaping the meticulous planning and attention to detail that Bluegrass Concierge infuses into every itinerary.
Sandra
Sandra came from Colombia to Louisville to visit her sister while she was in the process of going to graduate school in Maryland. During that visit, she met her husband, Patrick, a Louisville physician. She worked in Baltimore in Social Investing for a few years while traveling across the country. After several years of living in Baltimore, they both decided to come back to Kentucky almost 20 years ago. She was able to continue her investment career briefly in Kentucky, but family became a priority and she took some time off to raise her son.
When the time was right, she decided to go back to work and became a Certified Court Interpreter. It was through this job that she completely fell in love with Kentucky. Part of the job requires going to every corner in the state. During her visits to cities and towns, she took the time to explore and see Kentucky in full length. From visiting My old Kentucky Home, the famous Rebecca Ruth candy store, driving to the horse farms all the way to Cumberland Lake, and more. All of this was a whole new way to experience Kentucky. She will tell you that she knows Kentucky better than anyone else in the family. Although she has traveled extensively around the world from an early age, Sandra found in Kentucky a unique and authentic culture that goes beyond bourbon. The beauty of the state with the bluegrass, horse farms, multiple sources of water, and undoubtedly passion for horse racing has made her call this place home.
